Nobody will be forced to participate. Any household or business in the Township would be able to optin
on a completely voluntary basis.

• Self-Sustaining Operation
The ongoing operation of the network would be self-sustaining and not dependent on any kind of
taxpayer support or subsidy from the Township.
 

Primary Goals and Benefits

• Significantly increase the speed and reliability of internet access within Makanda Township.
• Lower the cost, while providing much better internet access for residents and businesses.
• Increase competition with several new choices of Internet Service Providers. (4-5 new options.)
• Create new economic opportunities by building a state-of-the-art network that can serve our community for generations.
• Increase quality of life for our residents with modern, reliable internet service for essentials like keeping in touch with family and friends, operating businesses, communicating with emergency services and healthcare professionals, education, entertainment, shopping, banking, and more.
